‘The government needs to wake up’: Nigerians demand action on soaring prices and unemployment

“We are in a very pathetic state of economy as a people,” says Mr. Churchill, a local businessman. “Businesses are experiencing chaos and facing the utmost economic unfriendliness ever. Prices of food, fuel and dollar must immediately get considerably lower for the average Nigerians. Let the poor breathe.”

“The subsidy aftermaths have brought the economy to its knees and caused so much unbearable suffering for the partisans,” says Mr. Bright, a sales representative. “You have to do a lot of convincing before a customer trusts you at this time, which was not the case before. The government needs to wake up from its nightmare and do what is necessary.”

“The outrageous increase in prices of goods, commodities, fuel and dollar must be addressed and fixed if ordinary Nigerians are to have a country to be proud of,” says Patience, a civil servant.
